Email program
A significant amount of the communication in the program is done through email. Almost any email program that works on your computer will do the job. You will be provided a Life Pacific email address when you start the program. Alternatively, you can use your existing email address (e.g. one that is supplied by your Internet provider). To avoid important program messages being treated as junk mail, tell your email program to accept items with the words “online class” or “Life Pacific” in the subject line or someone at lifepacific.edu as the sender.
Windows: Outlook is included with Microsoft Office and works fine.
Macintosh: The Mail program built into OS X works well. Microsoft Entourage (included with Microsoft Office) is a good alternative.

Microsoft Office
The student will be asked to create documents in Microsoft Word format and will need to be able to view PowerPoint presentations. The Microsoft Office package includes both of these programs as well as Excel and others depending on the platform. The student is encouraged to buy Microsoft Word if not the whole Office package.
